May Holidays

May seems to be the month for public holidays in the Netherlands. There are three more coming up: Hemelvaartsdag (Ascension Day) on 18 May; Eerste Pinksterdag (Whit Sunday) on 28 May, and Tweede Pinksterdag (Whit Monday) on 29 May. Read more

   Asparagus Season

White asparagus is a seasonal Brabant delicacy that’s only available from April to June. Known locally as ‘white gold’, its distinctive salty taste is due to the pure groundwater of the Kalmthoutse Heathland and the ocean breezes of Zeeland.
